Epoxy garage floor– Epoxy paint is a two-part coating consisting of a resin and a catalyst. Once the catalyst is mixed in the resin, the hardening process begins. When the process finishes, the epoxy is hard and durable enough to withstand abrasion and significant pressure. Unfortunately, this quality makes it extremely difficult to remove epoxy. If you would like to remove your epoxy garage floor, you must perform at least one acid wash. Before you begin, you need to know the proper technique, or you could end up with serious injuries.
Keep the epoxy garage floor open for ventilation. Don’t safety equipment, including a respirator loaded with acid-grade filters, boots, overalls and goggles. Moisten the garage floor using a water hose. Do not over-saturate the soil. Dry water pooling with a towel. Fill a 5-gallon bucket with 1 gallon of water and slowly stir in 12 ounces of muriatic acid using the long-handled brush.
Apply muriatic acid epoxy garage floor coated with long-handled brush. Do not pour the muriatic acid directly on the surface of epoxy as this can cause dangerous spills. Allow the acid to sit for 10 minutes, and then sprinkle baking soda on the surface, effectively neutralize the acid. Rinse neutralized acid away using a water hose.
